there’s this couple in my church that’s about 85 years old and they’ve been together since they were both 14 and almost 2 weeks ago, he fell and broke his hip while he was at home with her and he begged her not to call the ambulance because she doesn’t have eyesight good enough to drive so she would have to stay at home the entire time while he would be at the hospital and rehab, so, since he didn’t want her to be all by herself in the house, he laid on the floor of their house with a broken hip, for 3 days straight, until their son could get there to take him to the hospital and take care of her while he was away and when he was asked why he insisted on being in such crucial pain to the point where he couldn’t even get off of the floor just so his wife wouldn’t have to be alone he said, “i love her. we’ve been together our entire lives. it’s not just about me, it’s about us. i care about her far too much to just leave her here all by herself. she’s my everything.“
